Hello Again, I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Mine was very busy, but good. Now that the Christmas season is finally here I am sure you are all looking for some more ideas on how to make some meaningful, healthy, homemade gifts to share with your loved ones. This is one of my new favorite gift ideas of the season. They are super easy, but they look store-bought and smell super luxurious. You can also customize them to whatever scents you want to use. I chose to do peppermint and lavender because I was going for a soothing scent, but I think citrus would also be a really good idea! I hope you have as much fun making these as I did, let me know what you think.
Makes 4-6 large lotion bars
Ingredients:
1 Cup of coconut Oil
1 Cup of Shea Butter
1 Cup of Beeswax
1Tsp Vitamin e oil
peppermint essential oil
Directions:
The easies way I found to do this is to simply combine all of the ingredients except for the essential oil and the lavender in a quart sized glass mason jar that you will not need to clean later. Then, simply close the lid on the mason jar and set it in a pot of water on the stove. Bring the water to a boil and allow the ingredients to melt. After everything is fully melted remove the jar from the heat and add in the peppermint oil, stirring gently.
Pour the mixture into whatever mold you plan on using. I bought a soap mold on amazon for about $5 and used that, but you can also use a wax paper lined box and cut them into bars when they are dried. Then sprinkle the lavender buds evenly over the top of the melted liquid. Allow them to sit and harden completely before popping them out of the mold and you have a wonderful set of soothing lotion bars that your family and friends will love.

Ooooh, these looks wonderful! I shall have to try them.
I bought a solid chunk of beeswax. How much do you think would make 1 cup? I can weigh it…
I bought mine in a solid chunk as well. I grated it and/or cut it up into smaller chunks until it basically filled a 1 cup measuring cup. It wasn’t an exact science. Next time, I will be getting the pellets! I couldn’t find them in any stores locally and I was anxious to make things so I bought the block, but you can get pellets online and it would definitely make measuring easier.
Going to be making some of these today, as well as some lip balm for my littles. 🙂
