If you are on the autoimmune protocol or embarking on a new journey of natural wellness you may be looking for some helpful ideas of what to put on your Christmas list this year. I know over my 5 years of Christmas has been my opportunity to phase out a lot of my old things in favor of healthier alternatives or splurge on the gadgets that make cooking so much easier! So, with that in mind here are some of my top ideas for helpful, AIP and natural health related gifts!
- Instant Pot– If you haven’t already jumped on the Instant Pot bandwagon, the holidays are a great time to give it a try. The Instant Pot is an all-in-one kitchen tool that acts as an electric pressure cooker, a slow cooker, a yogurt maker, and a whole lot more. However, it is the pressure cooker feature that people love the most because it saves a ton of time in the kitchen. Think bone broth in two hours, salmon in 4 minutes, a pot roast in under an hour.
- New Cookware– I’ve talked a lot about the importance of non-toxic cookware on this page and on my social media pages. It took me years to fully make the switch from non-stick teflon cookware to cast iron and stainless steel, but I am so glad I did. Some of the chemicals in the non-stick coating on many pans has been directly linked to inflammatory bowel disease! Personally, I use cast iron for my pans and stainless steel for my pots, both are surprisingly affordable.
- Food Processor– If you don’t have a good food processor then move that to the top of your list. I spent my first few months on AIP without one and it was hard! Since then, I have used this one and it has held up great, gets the job done and isn’t too expensive.
- Paleo on the Go Gift Card– Who doesn’t want the gift of some time off from the daily grind? Paleo on the go is a frozen meal delivery service that has an extensive AIP menu. Just order what you want and it shows up on your door step frozen and ready to be stored or eaten. I have used Paleo on the Go while traveling and after having my first baby and it is always a fabulous treat.
- Organic Pillow– healthy sleep is vital to autoimmune healing, so why not splurge on an awesome new pillow? This one is organic and will keep you from breathing in any off-gassing fumes from foam or synthetic filling while you sleep.
- Phillips Hue System/Bulbs– This was a gift we got a few years ago and we still love it! This smart lighting system allows us to adjust the color of our light depending on the time of day. This increases melatonin production, protects our circadian rhythms and allows for easier healthier sleep. You can set it up on an automatic schedule, control it from your phone or have a wall switch!
- Car Essential Oil Diffuser: If you love essential oils as a means of aromatherapy or for more medicinal purposes than a car diffuser would make a great gift. That way you can use them while you are on-the-go. Plus your car will smell awesome!
- Hot Logic Mini– This is a great gift if you travel a lot and struggle with having ways to heat up meals while on-the-go or at work. This little mini “oven” allows you to have hot food ready whenever and wherever you need it.
- Seychelle Water bottle with Filter– This is on my list this year. This BPA free water bottle has a built in filter that filters out 90% of fluoride and 99.99% of bacteria, viruses and other contaminants. It is very affordable at $25 and is a great way to start drinking filtered water even if you can’t afford a filter at your house.
- Non Toxic Beauty Products (primal pit paste, JR liggets Shampoo, beauty counter makeup, garden goddess moisturizer…): Non-toxic beauty products always make good gifts. Here are a few of my favorites: Deodorant, Shampoo, Moisturizer.
